With a unique business model that enables Domus to develop and communicate with customized "Dream Teams" of resources based upon each clients needs, the agency utilizes technology as a competitive weapon. With a goal of increased speed of client communications, customization and efficiency, Domus wanted to revamp the management of its computer network of 37 users, 6 servers, and 2 routers. Having made a strategic decision to outsource this function, Domus wanted the transition not only to be seamless, but to be more effective and more efficient.
"We made the decision to outsource this function because we had invested in effective technology solutions that no longer required a full time person to manage. As we were making this transition, we wanted to make sure that our users
were happier with the service provided than when it was an in-house function - and that client servicing was maintained at the same - or even better level," explained Bob Pantaliano, Domus' CFO.
Domus made the switch to a managed services model, where its IT solutions provider was responsible for handling all of its IT needs. However, within a few months Domus realized it was being overcharged and under-serviced by its vendor
and Pantaliano was spending too much time handling IT problems himself.
Still believing the managed service model was the best option, Pantaliano evaluated six new service providers. "After meeting each one, we felt that we had the best chemistry with the IT Solutions team," said Pantaliano. "They were
more knowledgeable and had a much stronger list of references. They were also very upfront with us regarding potential roadblocks and made valid recommendations for alternative options."
